Snoqualmie, Wash., March 13, 2013 – Technical Glass Products (TGP) now offers an updated version of its popular AIA-registered fire-rated glass and framing course to help design professionals better understand the role of fire-rated glazing in modern building design. The new course, "Form, Function and Fire Safety: A Clearer View of Fire-rated Glass and Framing," is eligible for 1.0 Health, Safety and Welfare (HSW) learning unit hour in AIA's Continuing Education System (CES). www.fireglass.com/resources/aia-ces-courses/on-demand-courses/
The one-hour course addresses the various categories of fire-rated glass and framing, recent fire and life safety code changes, and how to ensure proper product specification. It also explores fire-rated glazing trends, and educates design professionals on how to incorporate fire-rated glazing assemblies into today’s innovative and environmentally conscious designs without compromising aesthetics.
Participants can complete the course in several ways:
Qualified firms can access upcoming TGP University webinars or schedule TGP InOffice presentations through TGP’s information request page.
To receive AIA credit, courses that are not completed in a live format require a supplemental test. Test scores of 80 percent or higher qualify participants for 1.0 HSW AIA CES credit. TGP will provide participants who receive a passing score on the test, or who view the program in a live format, with a certificate of completion and will submit their results to AIA for credit. Accredited AIA members must complete a total of 18 Continuing Education Units (CEU) per year to maintain their accreditation, 12 of which must be in the HSW category.
