The cutting-edge system combines aluminum frames and doors with Pilkington Pyrostop® glass to provide a barrier to radiant and conductive heat transfer, allowing unlimited areas of glazing in fire separations. Listed by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc.®, the Fireframes Aluminum Series carries 60-minute fire-ratings as a wall assembly, and may incorporate 20-, 45-, or 60-minute ratings for doors.
Given the aesthetic and performance characteristics of the Fireframes Aluminum Series, the project architects incorporated the product in the Art Institute of Chicago's new Modern Wing. The system helps the museum to maintain clear lines of sight throughout interior spaces and allows natural light to penetrate deep into the building. It also smoothly integrates the renovated wing with its historic counterparts, while meeting fire and life safety codes.
