Engineering Supervisor

General Summary

The Engineering Supervisor (ES) is responsible for managing a multidisciplinary group of designers and engineers at Technical Glass Products (TGP) who create architectural and mechanical drawings for the company’s internal and external customers. As a strong team leader, the ES will independently guide and direct the Engineering Team to exceed customer expectations in design, quality and service. Hands-on supervisory responsibilities include managing project engineering, providing production and infrastructure design support, creating metrics to efficiently manage the Engineering Team workload and training individuals in best practices. In this position, the ES may also lend support to the Framing Systems Manager for test engineering and research and development engineering.

As a core member of the TGP team, the ES will collaborate with other internal departments to ensure the company’s finished products meet our customers’ expectations of superior quality and on-time delivery. TGP designs and manufactures high-quality, custom architectural and fire-rated glazing solutions for the architectural building markets and related manufacturers. We work closely with architects, engineers, constructors as a supplier of specialty fire rated and architectural building materials. TGP is a privately held, small, growing organization, with an international presence.

Essential Functions

  • Lead and manage the timely and accurate delivery of architectural and mechanical submittal and manufacturing drawings to external and internal customers.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of all projects ensuring deliverables and deadlines are met.
  • Develop and recommend organizational engineering tools, techniques, and practices to manage daily workflow, improve operational efficiencies and quality, and to promote improved profitability.
  • Implement initiatives for continuous quality improvement of engineering deliverables.
  • Directly supervise employees in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws including interviewing, hiring, and training. Provide policy and leadership. Plan, assign and direct work. Create a culture of engagement. Appraise performance. Reward and discipline employees as required.
  • Grow departmental expertise through internal and external staff development.
  • Provide exceptional internal and external customer service.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering strongly preferred, especially mechanical engineering; or equivalent education with applicable experience will be considered.
  • Minimum six years of related engineering experience in manufacturing, product development, project management, work flow, and resource planning.
  • Working knowledge, including implementation, of engineering processes and procedures, drafting standards, bill of material development and control, quality systems and flow of quality requirements, AutoCAD, Inventor or other 3D software, configurators, Excel, project management tools, and resource planning systems.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to manage both personal and team’s work load and to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrate independent judgment and initiative.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills combined with a close attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Territory Account Manager - Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky


Position Reports To: National Sales Manager | FLSA: Exempt

General Summary

Technical Glass Products seeks a Territory Account Manager to represent the company in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. This person will be responsible for establishing TGP as the preeminent manufacturer of fire-rated and specialty daylighting materials in all covered markets by performing a variety of duties associated with development of the TGP sales territory. To meet or exceed sales quota set by TGP’s Vice President of Sales, a sales representative solicits, develops, and closes business opportunities. Candidates must live in the defined territory and be located in a position that allows easy access to the remainder of the territory.

Essential Functions

  • Provide consultation to both the architectural community as well as the glazing community in the territory as defined.
  • Regularly call on all glazing contractors in the territory to develop relationships, establish trust, and create opportunities for product sale. This includes soliciting potential customers.
  • Travel to all areas of the territory making presentations to groups of 10 to 100 architects/design professionals.
  • Read and interpret constantly developing technical and specific code information as it relates to fire protection and TGP’s growing product line.
  • Provide professional, prompt, and courteous service to all who inquire about TGP’s products
  • Stay abreast of all competitor activity in a specific territory, including competitor’s product development, marketing activity, and customer solicitation.
  • Collaborate with Territory Manager and customers in the territory regarding specifications, scope of work, product selection, and the bid process.
  • Work very closely with the Territory Manager to develop business, define opportunities, and make quick and accurate decisions regarding potential sales.
  • Sort, maintain and manage glass and assembly quotes and opportunities and engage in follow-up by using CRM software program.
  • Update CRM regularly with new information, email and phone correspondence, pricing and opportunity developments, and job-specific notes as required.
  • Manage the Distributor and OEM network of TGP customers in their territories. This includes training the sales staff of the distributor and keeping them current on changes in codes and products.
  • Respond to online quote requests, CAD drawing and BIM requests and general information requests.
  • Use product inquiries to create “Grab and Go” presentations at architecture firms, and solicit visits for job-specific meetings as required.
  • Respond to current and prospective customer inquiries regarding products, payment terms, orders, etc.
  • Prepare, process, review and monitor various documents, such as price quotes, job orders, etc.
  • Develop strong awareness of “good” vs. “bad” customer, and maintain the ability to work with both.
  • Assist with the planning of sales exhibits, makes presentations at trade shows, customer offices, etc. to explain products and systems.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  • College Degree.
  • Five years of sales or customer service required.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • Sales experience in the building product manufacturing industry.
  • Ability to coordinate work with sales, engineering, and production staff for the efficient and accurate quote generation, order placement and product delivery.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities simultaneously for self and other team members.
  • Ability to solve a variety of sales and customer service related problems, develop methods to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of work processes and assist others in solving work problems and improving work processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Computer application software experience in generating quotes, bids, proposals and orders.
  • Skill in making professional presentations to large groups and one-on-one.

Manufacturing Production Worker

Essential Functions

  • Using power tools for frame or crate assembly based on drawings and work instructions.
  • Documenting the operations performed.
  • Inspecting completed operations for quality, accuracy and quantity.
  • Allocate material used to the proper pick-list.
  • Expedite material as required.
  • Inspect finished products for defects.
  • Prioritize and schedule assembly operations to ensure on-time delivery per requirements.
  • Cut, pack, transfer and safely handle glass or frame product without causing damage.

  • High School diploma.
  • Forklift experience required.
  • Lean manufacturing experience preferred.

IT Manager

General Summary

Reporting to the President, the Information Technology (IT) Manager will provide policy and strategic oversight for Technical Glass Products (TGP) IT needs. The manager will guide and direct the IT function in a proactive manner in all facets of the business; this will include risk assessment, the management of projects, implementation oversight of new software and hardware, the maintenance and security of existing systems, maintain strategic alliances with outside partners and contractors, and provide end user support.

This position will also oversee the delivery and maintenance of computer system operations, server and storage systems, communication networks both voice and data, software such as ERP/MRP system, Microsoft, RightFax, Great Plains/Dyanmics, CRM, and facility system controls. The IT Manager will work with the President, Director of Operations and internal team members to ensure IT goals, initiatives, and projects support the organization's strategic objectives.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee the planning and execution of IT goals ensuring deliverables and deadlines are met. Develop IT processes which support company objectives.
  • Analyze and implement processes/procedures for accessing risk and security, and the storage and recovery of data.
  • Develop processes and oversee ongoing maintenance of equipment and solutions.
  • Implement initiatives for continuous improvement of IT deliverables and develop processes to monitor costs and increase efficiency. Create and maintain department annual budget.
  • Develop and implement initiatives that drive improvements in business performance. Institute and maintain after hour IT support of business critical systems.

CNC Machinist (swing shift)


Position Reports To: Machining Production Supervisor | FLSA: Non-Exempt

General Summary

Reporting to the Machining Production Supervisor, this position is responsible for set up and operation of machining production, prototype and fixtures. You will demonstrate strong team working skills as you assist Machine Operators and work with team members from other work cells to meet production demands. Considerable knowledge with working with steel and stainless steel will contribute to your success as you strive to maintain tolerances and quality workmanship.

Essential Functions

  • Machine precision parts for production and R&D utilizing a variety of machine tools
  • Inspect own work and work of others using precision tools and various inspection methods.
  • Program parts using conversational machining methods as well as editing G & M code.
  • Perform set up of machines and operates CNC machining & cutting equipment
  • Assist in the design of tooling and fixtures
  • Maintains equipment
  • Adhere to Company Safety and 5S Policies
  • Perform work in accordance with Quality Assurance policies
  • Develop operations and training instruction matrix for CNC machining and cutting equipment
  • Work across multiple shifts
  • Assist Machine Operators with production runs
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  • Associates Degree in Machine Tool Technology, 2-year degree in Machine Technology with 4 years machining experience or eight years’ experience as a CNC Machinist.
  • Experience developing tools and fixtures
  • Experience with GibbsCAM or similar CAD/CAM software is a plus.
  • Experience manufacturing to ISO 9000 standards preferred
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Ability to program, setup and operate machine tools; CNC milling machine, CNC cutting, as well as conventional machines
  • Ability to develop tools and fixtures
  • Knowledge of machining tight tolerance parts
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in the use of SolidWorks preferred
  • Strong math skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong analytical skills

Must have strong knowledge of the following:

  • Surface Feet calculation, tooling application, GD&T drawing standards, G&M Code.
