Pilkington Profilit™ Offers Architects Exciting Light Alternative
Technical Glass Products recently expanded their partnership with Pilkington to bring Pilkington Profilit™ on board as the newest product in a line of architecturally significant, non-fire rated products TGP is now offering.
TGP offers sales and technical support for the product, which offers an exciting alternative to glass block and other translucent materials for commercial and residential applications. The unique, "U-shaped" cast glass channels are installed in custom designed metal perimeter frames for greater structural strength. The end result is an opaque but light-transmitting wall, façade or partition for use in either interior or exterior applications.

Pilkington Profilit™ allows designers to take advantage of borrowed daylight in designs, thus reducing the need for artificial lighting. In addition, the product is available in a variety of colors and textures with varying translucency, allowing for the passage of natural light without the loss of privacy.
For more information on Pilkington Profilit™ and any of our products, visit our website at www.TGPAmerica.com or call 1-800-426-0279.

Local Availability for Fire-Rated Glass Products
Fire-rated glass products that were once special order are now becoming available closer to home. Local distributors are beginning to stock, cut and label wireless fire-rated products that meet ANSI and CPSC impact standards. With no need to ship these products, customers can take advantage of quick cutting, labeling (to meet Code requirements) and delivery.
In addition to the wireless fire-rated products, Pilkington Pyroshield™ Plus, a laminated wired glass, can now be cut and labeled on a local basis. Pilkington Pyroshield™ Plus provides an economical alternative to wireless products and meets IBC requirements -- something "traditional" wired glass does not meet.
For more information on Pilkington Pyroshield™ Plus and any of our products, visit our website at www.fireglass.com or call 1-800-426-0279.

Stepping up with Fire-Rated Glass
Located on the campus of Ohio State University, the Stanley J. Aronoff Laboratory of Biological Sciences provides 107,000 square feet of laboratory and office space for the College of Biological Sciences.

Lobby of Stanley J. Aronoff Laboratory
Located in the northeast exterior corner of the building is a stair tower that rises up the building's full five stories. Local building codes required that the stair tower be encased with a fire-rated glazing system with a minimum two-hour rating. Glazier Craig Erman worked on the installation...

2005 AIA Expo: Helping to Define What Architects Want
The AIA 2005 National Convention and Design Expo in Las Vegas this past May was a successful three-day lesson in defining what architects want as far as fire-rated glazing options. One recurring theme was that architects want a glazing product that does more than what it seems. They want a product that meets energy codes, is impact resistant and can even be decorative.
See a recent article in USGlass News Network regarding the AIA Expo and TGP:

Technical Glass Products also raised awareness among show attendees about some of the exciting non-fire rated architectural product offerings now available. These products include AquaGlass, Veluna, GlassOre, Neopariés and Neopariés LT.
