Fire Safety and An Open Feel in Underground Spaces

Architects for Chicago's Millennium Park Bicycle Station wanted to maintain the building's open feel by incorporating the most glass possible in the facility's underground spaces. Yet they also had to satisfy fire codes. Pilkington Pyrostop™ with Fireframes® Heat Barrier Series, from Technical Glass Products, allowed them to meet both needs.

NeoPariés® and NeoPariés® LT Join the TGP Family of Products

Technical Glass Products is pleased to now offer NeoPariés® and NeoPariés® LT, architectural panels that are lighter and stronger than granite and more resistant to scratching and abrasion than marble.

Commonly used for cladding interior and exterior walls, flooring, and counter or tabletops, NeoPariés and NeoPariés LT can be installed on buildings or other structures made of reinforced concrete, steel structure or a combination of both.

NeoPariés and NeoPariés LT are virtually impermeable and not subject to freeze-thaw damage, penetration by rust, mortar or other staining substances. NeoPariés and NeoPariés LT are significantly more resistant to acids, alkalis, oils and other chemical substances than either marble or granite. Unlike stone, their surface and physical properties do not degrade even after years of exposure to environmental pollutants, including acid rain. Contaminants are easily removed during regular building maintenance. Even graffiti can be cleaned without difficulties.

Both products are available in a variety of colors that offer consistency unmatched by natural stone. Even white is available that allows for large expanses of continuous color without the veining or streaking common to other alternatives.

Additionally, Neopariés and Neopariés LT can be formed into curved panels for columns and flowing wall designs where right angles are not desirable.

With an extremely low coefficient of expansion, NeoPariés and NeoPariés LT are not subject to the thermal cracking that can affect other cladding materials. Neither are they subject to the fissure and fracture patterns that commonly occur in quarried stone. With greater bending strength, they also can be fabricated into thinner panels than natural stone (NeoPariés is 5/8" thick and NeoPariés LT is 5/16" thick).
